D&H
Studio, Inc. is the home of ceramic tile artist, Diane
Hutchinson. Based in Palm Beach, Florida, Diane has
been specializing in ceramic tile artwork for over fifteen
years. |
| All
D&H pieces are custom designed and handmade by Diane
herself. Diane's father, Robert Dittmer, co-founded
D&H Studio with Diane in 1987. Robert crafts the
wood surfaces that many of the pieces are mounted on.
With the assistance of a small staff for mounting, prepping
and shipping, D&H Studio produces beautiful custom pieces
that can be found in many homes, businesses, and galleries. |

Ceramic
tile is a versatile medium that allows D&H Studio's
artist, Diane Hutchinson, to produce works of art that are
beautiful, functional, and durable. All of our
tiles are handmade by Diane herself. A D&H piece
starts its life as a bag of clay and a design plan.
Our clay is specially mixed for D&H Studio so that the
finished tile will not absorb water, making it water and
frost proof - ideal for a lifetime of indoor or outdoor
display. |
|
Diane rolls the clay into thin slabs, which she then sculpts,
glazes, and cuts into tiles according to the desired design.
The tiles are then fired to maturity in the kiln.
D&H co-founder, Robert Dittmer (Diane's father), crafts
the wood backings for the pieces that require them, such
as tabletops and wall hanging decorations. Robert
uses only laminated marine plywood for tabletops or other
designs that might be used outdoors. |
|
The
tiles are then mounted to the backing and grouted together.
The result is a beautiful one-of-a-kind work of art ready
for shipping. Since all D&H artwork is handmade
from scratch, Diane can custom design pieces of all shapes,
sizes, designs, and for many different applications. Some
of the applications these tiles have been designed and used
for include wall hanging decorations, tabletops, interior
wall tiling, countertops, pool decorations, fountain decorations,
and murals. Examples of all of these applications
can be found in our online gallery. |
